When was the last time you had an opportunity to attend a conference on Baptist history? Baptist history must be preserved and passed on, therefore we are excited to be able to offer our first Baptist Heritage Conference sponsored by Mississippi Baptist Bible Institute! This event will cover a period of two days held this May on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and evenings on the 21st and 22nd.
MBBI focuses on offering special seminars on the history and heritage of the Baptist people and on the history of the preservation of the Word of God. This first conference will focus on the history of Baptists in early America, as well as other topics of interest to Baptists. The conference will consist of six sessions. You are invited to attend all sessions, but it is designed for busy pastors who may need to come and go, choosing which sessions to attend. There is no cost to attend the sessions and four meals will also be offered at no cost.
The conference will also be offered for college credit for those interested in earning credits to be applied toward a certificate or diploma from MBBI. The regular tuition charge would apply for those desiring credit, but there is no charge for those who simply attend the sessions. If you plan on attending and eating at one or more of the meals, we ask you to RSVP so we will know how much food to prepare. Please see the attached schedule for the meal times, then respond back by email, text, or phone.
Brother Mac Woody, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church in Gwinn, Michigan will be the main speaker. Brother Woody and Shiloh Films (shilohfilms.org) have produced historical videos documenting the role Baptists played in early America in securing the liberties we enjoy today. Baptists played a vital role in America’s early history and were often persecuted for insisting on scriptural baptism for new believers. He will speak of Shubal Stearns, Obadiah Holmes, Dr. John Clark and others who are forgotten Baptist heroes of the faith.
Dr. Daryl Coats and Brother Greg Hillman will also be speaking at the conference. Dr. Coats teaches at our campus in Laurel, MS and Brother Hillman teaches an extension class for MBBI in Greene County at Calvary Missionary Baptist, where he also is pastor.
Again, please refer to the enclosed schedule and make plans to be with us May 21 and 22, 2018.
